Midwifery Service Directory in England and United Kingdom

I was inspired to become a midwife during my pregnancies in the late eighties. I combined motherhood with accountancy when Aaron and Tomas were little, once the boys started secondary school, I enjoyed training for the most important job in the world.

With the love and support of my husband and children I succeeded in getting my degree at University of Surrey in Guildford, gaining practical experience at East Surrey Hospital and within the community of Dorking. I spent my elective placement at The Crowborough Birth Centre learning more about water births.

I worked in private practice since qualifying in 2003. I have always been fascinated by the miracle of birth, particularly how nature is so clever.

Witnessing women being supported through a natural process, learning to trust their bodies and welcome the changes in themselves is an honour.

I believe in the traditional midwifery skills of being with women whilst maintaining up to date practice, keeping myself informed of the most recent research-based evidence. I am pleased to be able to provide fully insured midwifery care to clients either at home or supporting them in hospital.

I am a qualified massage therapist and infant massage instructor. I firmly believe in the importance of touch as a form of communication. Sadly, we have become more insular in our modern world and we live with more stress related illness despite all the medical advancements of the last century. Communication through touch can convey trust, love, and strength without interrupting nature. The bond between parent and child is strengthened through touch.

I have almost completed my training to become a person-centred counsellor, I am BACP registered, specialising in birth trauma, supporting clients who have had previous traumatic birth experiences, and couple therapy, which can  help build a healthy relationship and solve any issues that may be present. Person centred therapy, also known as client-centred therapy, is one of the major models of psychotherapy practiced worldwide.

As a therapist  I offer support, guidance, and structure to enable clients discover their own personal solutions to their problems. It has been shown to be effective for a range of client problems, specifically for anxiety and depression.

To practice midwifery the way I was taught, namely giving women continuity of carer and the opportunity to get to know their midwives, I chose to work as an independent midwife once I qualified.  I love being a midwife working in the community in a truly autonomous way, providing continuity of care, and I am delighted to be able to work in this way.

During the last 20 years I have had the privilege to care for clients providing individualised continuity of care and attending many births, including those of my gorgeous granddaughters.

I look after  clients at home for relaxed comfortable antenatal and postnatal appointments and support physiological birth, often in the comfort of client's own homes, many in water, but also accompanying clients who prefer to birth in hospital have a physiological birth or when necessary supporting clients requiring obstetric led care in hospital acting as an advocate.

As an experienced Private midwife working in Norfolk, who is sensitive and caring. I have chosen to work in the private sector to o?er the very best maternity care. I am

registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). I believe in an holistic approach to maternity care.

I am fully insured by Zest and therefore able to offer fully insured maternity services in your own home or whilst supporting you in hospital.

Yours Maternally Independent Midwives offer individualised maternity care at home. We are experienced in supporting you in the birth of your baby, including water births. Most important of all, we are friendly and caring, whatever kind of birth you have.
